Flexibility and Customisation of Jira Dashboards to Meet Specific Needs

In today’s fast-paced business environment, speed is essential, and the ability to quickly access and organise data is critical. In this context, dashboards within the Atlassian Jira tool become a vital asset for optimising business processes. Every Jira user can personalise their dashboard to manage tasks and projects more efficiently. But what happens when requirements extend to the level of departments or entire teams?

Large Jira Teams Use Dynamic Dashboards

Imagine a large organisation where a department head needs a comprehensive overview of their team’s or department’s progress. Traditional dashboards can become cluttered and inefficient when there’s a need to monitor multiple layers of information. In such cases, dynamic dashboards become indispensable.

Let’s take the following example from a Jira setup of one of our clients:

At the top of the main dashboard, there is a summary of business activities along with a link to Confluence documentation for more detailed information. Each user can quickly access key aspects of their work through intuitively placed buttons.

The first button enables quick creation of new issues directly from the dashboard, streamlining processes and reducing workflow interruptions. Upon clicking it, the Create screen opens.

The next button leads to each team member’s personal dashboard, providing an overview of their roles and responsibilities in the task resolution process (displaying all issues they are coordinating, those assigned to them, and similar items).

Other buttons provide access to different dashboards essential for tracking business processes: pending tasks, tasks for review, yearly budget planning, and many others. It’s important to highlight that each newly opened dashboard includes a button to return to the main dashboard and/or quickly access the next relevant one.

Customisable Jira dashboards for diverse business needs

This example showcases just one way dynamic dashboards can be used to effectively track data. It’s important to emphasise that this flexibility allows dashboards to be tailored to specific needs, making navigation easier and optimising productivity for each user. Ultimately, dynamic dashboards become a vital tool for achieving more efficient organisation in modern business environments.
