After Rovo and AI features became available to Premium and Enterprise users earlier this year, Atlassian has now announced great news for everyone using their Standard plans – Rovo and AI are coming your way too!
At no additional cost, Atlassian will roll out access to these advanced features in two phases to users on the Standard tier of their cloud applications.
📌 Phase 1: AI features – starting from July 2025
Throughout July, Atlassian will begin gradually enabling AI features across all Standard instances, including those currently in a trial phase.
Users will receive an email notification as soon as the features become active within their applications.
If your organisation is not yet ready for AI, there is an option to opt out before activation occurs – by submitting a dedicated form by 30 June 2025.
Important to note:
→ This opt-out option applies only to applications created before 1 July 2025.
→ Once AI is activated, all new applications (whether on Standard, Premium or Enterprise plans) will have AI enabled by default – but administrators will still be able to disable or customise it.
📌 Phase 2: Rovo – from August to October 2025
Between August and October, Standard users will gain access to Rovo, including:
-
Rovo Search – a contextual search engine that understands what your team is working on and where information lives
-
Chat Assistant – a conversational helper you can interact with in natural language
-
AI Agents – assisting with onboarding, suggesting next steps, automating workflows, and helping process content
-
Studio App – a new way to work with documents and tasks in an AI-powered environment
If you already had Rovo activated on your Standard plan, the additional AI capabilities will become available to you once Phase 1 activation is complete.
🧠 Why does this matter?
Atlassian’s Rovo and AI features are designed to help teams:
-
Find information faster
-
Connect knowledge across tools and applications
-
Reduce operational workload
-
Improve efficiency and collaboration
In practice, this means you’ll no longer need to sift through dozens of Jira tickets, Confluence pages or Slack messages to find what you need. One question is enough – Rovo will do the rest.
🔐 What about privacy?
Atlassian remains committed to data security and developing technology in line with its principles for responsible AI use. All new AI features are being introduced gradually and transparently, with clear options for control by users and administrators.
